Those who are moving in an increase of revelation anointing can be said to be moving into the prophetic ministry rather than just an extensive use of the gift. When that ministry begins to impact whole people groups, nations and governments, it will signify the change from prophetic ministry to the office of the prophet.
1 Cor. 14:31 – For you can all prophesy
1 Cor. 14:1-3 – Follow the way of love and eagerly desire gifts of the Spirit, especially prophecy… the one who prophesies speaks to people for their strengthening, encouraging and comfort
Everyone with the Holy Spirit can prophesy, but not all will be called to the office of a prophet. Everyone can teach and pastor, but not all will be called to the office of a teacher or pastor.
Jesus paid to give you this gift
1 Thess. 5:20 – do not despise prophetic utterances
Hello, and Happy New Year! If I may point out an error in Mr. Cooke’s presentation, it is that Christ’s gifts of Ephesians 4:11-13, often described as the five-fold ministry, are not offices, but functions. Many people make this error – Mr. Cooke is not alone in this. Although He was God incarnate, Jesus called Himself a servant, and never referred to how He ministered/served as being an office. It is our old prideful selves which choose to refer to such ministries as offices instead of our new selves clothed in Christ’s humility, don’t you think? That is part of the deception behind the new apostolic movement, which really is not of the Lord.

sure, Christ held all 5 functions without ‘pastoring’ a local church. We are all called to function in all 5 areas as well

A lot of people prophesy without knowing it, or mistake it for “good advice”. Many prophesies are just flashes of spiritual insight given to one person concerning another, and they’ll just pull the other person aside and tell them. I’ve been blessed to both give and receive these.

I agree! I’ve received prophecies from people who don’t believe in them. King David was a prophet and he didn’t know it! I wrote about that here: https://lovedisciple.wordpress.com/2015/07/29/unknowingly-prophets/
