The Gift of Prophecy: 10

Many Christians are sitting in our churches with very little idea of their own worth and value in the Lord. Many people have difficulty in establishing a relationship with God as their Father due to their own poor personal experience in the family home. We serve a God who is committed to our healing at every level (physical, mental, emotional). Prophecy is a wonderful part of the healing and renewing process. Prophecy brings us, by direct communication, into contact with God’s real perspective on our lives and current situations. The goal of prophecy in this context is to open our eyes to God’s love and care, specifically to enable us to come to our senses and escape from any snare in which the enemy has tried to entrap us. It counters our poor attitudes and negative concepts about ourselves and creates an understanding and appreciation of our personal value.

Prophecy will not leave the church feeling confused, degraded or condemned. It will not make them feel intimidated or inferior. Prophecy strengthens our ties to God.

1 Cor. 14:3 – But the one who prophesies speaks to people for their strengthening, encouraging and comfort.

Prov. 25:11 –  A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in a setting of silver.
